Janelle VanWassenhove

Janelle began dancing at a young age following in her sister's footsteps. When her family found their passion in music, she found hers in dance. Janelle danced at several studios before she started at Centerstage in Dixon, IL in 1990. The following year she joined competition teams earning the "Dancer of the Year" award. She continued competing for 13 years with Centerstage and 2 years with Club ATD in Amboy, IL.

 

2009 marks the start of Janelle's 4th year teaching at S&R and her 16th year teaching at Centerstage. This will be her second year on the staff of Forest Hills Dance Co. in Loves Park, IL. Other teaching credits include 5 years at Stage Lights Dance & Tumbling (co-owner), Club ATD (co-director of competition teams) and Dance Source Unlimited in Amboy and Rockford respectively.

 

Janelle has choreographed many award winning routines at both a regional and national level and has choreographed for many dance teams, camps and musicals throughout the area. She also choreographs for private performances and competitions, including a recent bodybuilding competition. She continues to take class from the top teachers and choreographers in the industry and has had

the wonderful experience of taking class from the tap master Savion Glover!

 

She loves to see her students accomplish new things every day!
